As a vocalist, musician, and poetess, Mira uniquely shares her inner journey. Whether singing with a bluegrass flare or calling out to the Beloved Deity, her voice is filled with pure devotion and sincerity.
Mira began her exploration into Mysticism and Indian spirituality at an early age. Since then, she has been on various pilgrimages throughout the world to numerous holy sights and spiritual ashrams. Her natural resonance with East Indian culture is easily recognized in her spirited voice and passionate musical expression.
For several years, Mira traveled with Bhagavan Das, and became an active figure in the kirtan (devotional chanting) community. She has recorded on many well known chanting CDs, displaying her talents on kartals (finger cymbals), kaimini (south Indian bells), and as a vocalist.
Along side her explorations into the power of mantra recitation and Sanskrit hymns, Mira has a deep appreciation for the soulful sounds of Conscious Bluegrass. She has recently teamed up with west coast musician and producer Philippo Franchini to record her first solo album.
Mira currently tours with chant artist David Newman ‘Durga Das’ (www.davidnewmanmusic.com) as a featured vocalist and percussionist.
“Mira is the Goddess of Sound. She vibrates to the heart of Saraswati. She holds the cymbals of Shakti's Love and flashes the Light of Ram’s name.”
- Bhagavan Das
“Mira simply holds the space for magic to happen.”
